UPDATE: Police blame road rage for early morning shooting

Posted: Updated:

A man is shot during what police call a road rage incident early Friday morning.  It happened at the intersection of N. 2nd Street and Y Boulevard.  Police were called out there around 6:40am.

Investigators say a 24-year-old man was by himself in a vehicle going south on N. 2nd Street when someone inside another vehicle drove up and fired several shots at him.   The victim was hit in the leg, taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.  Police describe the suspect vehicle as being a black or dark colored four door vehicle that was last seen going south on N. 2nd Street.  They think three or four people were inside at the time.

Anyone with information is urged to call Rockford Police (815) 987-5824 or Crime Stoppers (815) 963-7867.
