Snappers' Ynoa Named to All-Star Futures Game


Beloit Snappers pitcher Michael Ynoa has been selected to play for the World Team in the 2013 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game on July 14, 2013 at Citi Field in New York City as part of the festivities during Major League Baseball's All-Star Week.  

Snappers third baseman Renato Nunez may be joining Ynoa in New York. In a new twist, MLB is allowing fans to pick the player that will fill the last roster spot on both the World and USA squads. Nunez is competing with four other players for the final place on the World Team. Fans can vote for Nunez by visiting
Both Ynoa and Nunez already showcased their talent in the Midwest League All-Star Game in Dayton, Ohio on June 18th.
Ynoa has spent the season establishing himself as one of the best starting pitchers in the Midwest League. In 14 starts, he's 2-1 with a 1.95 ERA in 50.2 innings. He's allowed only 38 hits, walked 17 and struck out 46. Ynoa has given up one or zero earned runs in twelve of his 14 outings. A native of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, Ynoa is currently No. 20 on's list of the Athletics' top 20 prospects.
Nunez currently ranks second in the Midwest League with 13 homers, fifth in total bases at 133 and seventh in RBIs with 53. He also hit in a team-high 12 consecutive games in April. The All-Star Futures Game is a nine-inning game that pits some of the best prospects from the United States against some of the best prospects from countries around the world. This is the 15th edition of the Futures Game, which in the past has included current Major League stars such as Prince Fielder, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout.
