The Winnebago County Sheriff has declared a No Wake Zone for the Rock River within the county due to high waters.
The restriction is effective immediately. Although the river remains open for use, boaters and other users are encouraged to avoid using the river for recreational activity because of the presence of debris and a faster current from increased water flow.
As of 12:00 p.m. on June 25, the river was at 8.31 feet at Latham Road and it's expected to rise to 11.1 feet by Saturday, June 29, a foot above flood stage.
For current river conditions and updates, call the Sheriff's Office at 815-319-6300, the Rock River information line at 815-316-8888, or visit www.winnebagosheriff.com.
