Snappers' Maxwell Promoted

The Oakland Athletics have announced that catcher Bruce Maxwell has been promoted from the Beloit Snappers to the High-A Stockton Ports.

Maxwell was a member of the Snappers Opening Day roster and served as the team's primary backstop during the first half. A left-handed hitter from Harvest, Alabama, Maxwell batted .286 with Beloit, homered twice and drove in 28. He was selected as the starting catcher for the Western Division in the Midwest League All-Star Game. Maxwell was a 2012 second round draftee by the A's and was ranked as their No. 15 prospect by coming into the season.
Maxwell is the fourth Snappers player to be promoted in 2013. Pitchers Raul Alcantara, Ryan Dull and Tucker Healy were all sent up to Stockton earlier in the season.
