ROCKFORD (WREX) -

The Chicago Rockford International Airport saw a 35.3 percent increase in traffic last month, when compared to May 2012.

May 2013 saw 17,820 passengers pass through the airport, while just 13,172 passed through during the same month last year. The increase is due to expanded service to Ft. Myers from Allegiant and more flights to Cancun through Apple. Last month's flights had a 91 percent load factor.

So far this year the airport has served 110,157, up from the same period last year, which saw 108,618 passengers.
