Junior tight end Dane Kirk (Rochelle, Ill./Rochelle) has been named a preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network. Beyond Sports Network chooses multiple All-American teams for each college football division including: FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA. Kirk was selected as a member of the Division III Second Team Preseason All-American Team and was one of only three tight ends on the three preseason All-American teams. He is also the only student-athlete from the Northern Athletics Conference to be named a preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network.
Kirk had the best season of any tight end in the NAC last year. For his efforts he was named 2012 First Team All-Northern Athletics Conference. He led all tight ends in the NAC with 33 receptions and 482 yards receiving. Kirk really shined down the stretch posting back-to-back 100-yard receiving games including a career best 116 yards receiving against the NAC's top overall defense and best pass defense in week 9. Kirk was the focal point of the Regents passing game last year hauling in 25 percent of the team's total receptions, recording 30 percent of the Regents total receiving yards and grabbing 3 of the Rockford's 7 touchdown receptions.
