Minnesota man dies at South Beloit raceway


A 70-year-old man is dead after crashing his vehicle at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit.

Robert Hanneman of Burnsville, Minnesota, was driving a car in the Vintage Classic race Sunday morning. There were four laps left in the race and Hanneman was on turn seven when he lost control and crashed.

Hanneman was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital via helicopter where he pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m. An autopsy performed Monday showed he died of blunt trauma to the head.
