ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford police have arrested two men for criminal defacement of property.

Two of Rockford's M3 Street Team officers saw two men standing in an alley in the 1300 block of Broadway just before 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12. As officers approached, they say the two men ran away and one dropped a backpack. After a brief chase, both suspects were apprehended.

Police say both 23-year-old Kenneth L. Gilgan III and 19-year-old Tyler J. Reich had fresh paint on their hands and the discarded backpack contained cans of spray paint. A search of the initial area revealed wet paint matching the cans in the backpack on the walls of the Baltic Lodge at 1524 9th Street.

Both men were charged with Criminal Defacement of Property and Resisting a Police Officer.
