Rockford's Easter Seals Therapeutic School held a rally on Thursday, honoring its best athletes.
Seven students are headed off to Normal, Illinois for this weekend's Special Olympics, and they were given an enthusiastic send-off by their peers at the pep rally. Para-educators at Easters Seals say the games are a source of pride for their students.
"A lot of our kids get excited just to hear their name called out that they were even competing, and that's awesome," Michael Goodwin said.
The students will participate in the Tennis Ball Throw, 55 Meter Dash, the Standing Long Jump, and more.
