Rockford College starts program for those interested in education

Rockford College's Learning Resource Center has started a program to help students meet the rising standards needed to pursue a degree in education.

The program is open to first-year college students and high school students. The goal is to fully prepare them to take the required Tests of Academic Proficiency (TAP) and ACT Plus Writing exams. A composite score of 22 on the ACT Plus Writing Exam or passing the TAP is required by the State of Illinois in order to enroll in college education courses.

Rockford College is offering two classes to help students become prepared. The ACT course will be held on the following dates:

  • June 17-21
  • July 15-19
  • August 12-16

The TAP course will be held on:

  • June 24-28
  • July 22-26
  • August 19-23

The programs were developed with Rockford District 205 to help students obtain their goal of joining the teaching profession.
