Rescheduled AirFest canceled

Posted:
ROCKFORD (WREX) -

The Chicago Rockford International Airport has canceled its plans to host Rockford AirFest on Labor Day Weekend.

Rockford AirFest is usually held in June, but was postponed to Labor Day Weekend due to federal sequester cuts that canceled all aerial demonstrations, including flyovers, jump team demonstrations, and participation in civilian air shows as of April 1.

Those cuts are still in effect and without the demonstrations and participation from the Department of Defense, RFD made the decision to scrap the rescheduled event.

Tickets will be refunded through the following outlets:

  • Tickets purchased at the airport or Culver's can be reimbursed for cash at the Greater Rockford Airport Authority Administration Office, 60 Airport Drive, before October 1.
    • Tickets purchased at those locations or the GRAA office can be refunded at the RFD Main Terminal on Friday, June 14, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
    • After June 14, tickets can be refunded at the GRAA office between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Tickets purchased through BMO Harris Bank will be refunded at the point of purchase
  • Tickets purchased online or by phone through Ticketmaster should have been refunded through a chargeback to the credit or debit card originally used in the transaction. Any questions should be forwarded to Ticketmaster at 800-653-8000.
