Northern Illinois' season opening game at Iowa on Saturday, August 31st will kick off at 2:30 p.m. (CT) on the Big Ten Network, the Hawkeyes and BTN announced Wednesday.
NIU now has confirmed game times for four games on its 2013 schedule with the game at Purdue on Sept. 28 set for an 11 a.m. (CT) kickoff time, while two of the Huskies' weeknight games in November have also been announced. The Huskies' game at Toledo on Wednesday, Nov. 20 will be televised on ESPN2 and kickoff at 7 p.m. (CT), and NIU's home game versus Western Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. (CT) is also scheduled for an ESPN2 broadcast.
Additional game times and television information for 2013 will be announced later this month.
Northern Illinois and Iowa opened the 2012 season at Soldier Field in Chicago, where the Hawkeyes handed NIU their only regular season loss, 18-17, by scoring the go-ahead touchdown – UI's only touchdown of the game – with 2:15 left in the game. NIU is 0-8 all-time versus the Hawkeyes with six of those games played at Kinnick Stadium. Northern Illinois last played at Iowa in 2006, falling 24-14.
