DEKALB (WREX) -

Northern Illinois' season opening game at Iowa on Saturday, August 31st will kick off at 2:30 p.m. (CT) on the Big Ten Network, the Hawkeyes and BTN announced Wednesday.

NIU now has confirmed game times for four games on its 2013 schedule with the game at Purdue on Sept. 28 set for an 11 a.m. (CT) kickoff time, while two of the Huskies' weeknight games in November have also been announced. The Huskies' game at Toledo on Wednesday, Nov. 20 will be televised on ESPN2 and kickoff at 7 p.m. (CT), and NIU's home game versus Western Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. (CT) is also scheduled for an ESPN2 broadcast.

Additional game times and television information for 2013 will be announced later this month.

Northern Illinois and Iowa opened the 2012 season at Soldier Field in Chicago, where the Hawkeyes handed NIU their only regular season loss, 18-17, by scoring the go-ahead touchdown – UI's only touchdown of the game – with 2:15 left in the game. NIU is 0-8 all-time versus the Hawkeyes with six of those games played at Kinnick Stadium. Northern Illinois last played at Iowa in 2006, falling 24-14.

NIU plays five home games in 2013, beginning Sept. 21 versus Eastern Illinois. There is still time to purchase or renew 2013 season tickets! Call 815-753-1923 or go online to www.NIUHuskies.com/tickets for more information or to order season tickets. Huskie Football is one of the best values in the area with Northern Illinois looking to extend a 21-game winning streak that dates back to 2009, at its home stadium.

The new Huskieland Plan, which includes a ticket to all five home games (sections A and G) and $50 in Doggie Dollars good for parking and/or concessions, is just $50. All remaining season ticket locations for the 2013 Huskie Stadium home slate are just $100 while NIU Alumni Association members, senior citizens (62+), youth (3-13), NIU Varsity Club (former letterwinners) members and faculty and staff can see every game for just $88.
