A 10-year facilities improvement plan is underway in Rockford Public Schools District 205.
Work started Monday on additions and renovations at Conklin, Johnson, and Lathrop elementary schools, marking the first time in 14 years district schools have been under construction. The three schools will receive new cafeterias, kitchens, resource rooms, and entrances with security vestibules.
Cord Construction Company won the project with a bid of $4,010,243 and work is expected to wrap up in December.
