Autopsy complete on Rockford shooting victim


The autopsy is complete on a 34-year-old Rockford man who was shot early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Rockford gas station.

Joseph Henson died from a single gunshot wound to the head. The Winnebago County Coroner's Office is still awaiting the results of toxicological testing.

Rockford officers responded to the Marathon gas station on the corner of 11th Street and Sawyer Road around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, June 9. Along with Henson, two other people were shot. They were treated and released at area hospitals.

Police believe Henson was involved in a fight and someone on the other side of the conflict brought out a gun and fired shots.
