Cooling centers announced for Winnebago and Boone counties

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) -

The City of Rockford Human Services Department has announced the locations of cooling centers throughout Winnebago and Boone counties for the hot summer months.

The sites provide air conditioning in periods of extreme heat or when an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

The following sites will be open this summer:

  • Carpenter's Place - 1149 Railroad Ave, Rockford
    • M-Th: 8:30am-3pm, F: 8:30am-2:30pm
  • Jubilee Center - Corner of Park Ave & North Court, Rockford
    • M-F: 9am-noon, 1pm-3pm
  • Winnebago County Justice Center - 650 W. State St., Rockford
    • Lobby open 24 hours, seven days a week
  • Pilgrim Baptist Church - 1703 South Central Ave, Rockford
    • M-F: 9am-5pm
  • Public Safety Building, 420 W. State St., Rockford
    • Lobby open 8am-5pm
  • Pecatonica Village Hall - 405 Main St., Pecatonica
    • M-F: 8am-4pm
  • Village of Machesney Park - 300 Roosevelt Rd., Machesney Park
    • M-F: 8am-4:30pm
  • Rockford Rescue Mission Men's Crisis Center - 715 W. State, Rockford
    • 24 hours, seven days a week
  • Rockford Rescue Mission Women's Crisis Center - 809 Cedar Street, Rockford
    • 8am-5pm, seven days a week
  • Boone County Salvation Army - 422 South Main Street, Belvidere
    • M-F: 9am-11:45am, 1pm-4pm
  • Keen Age Center - 2141 Henry Luckow Ln, Belvidere
    • M-F: 8am-4:30pm
