Chicago Board of Education votes to shut down 50 schools

Fifty Chicago schools will close after a final vote by the city's board of education.

The decision came down Wednesday after multiple protests and even lawsuits. Officials say dropping enrollment and a need to improve the city's education system make the closures necessary.

However, critics argue the closures will disproportionately affect minority neighborhoods and kids may have to cross gang boundaries to get to their new schools.
