The Rockford Aviators (1-4), presented by Pearson, got a quality start from Drew Rucinski but were unable to get anything going offensively as they lost to Washington (2-3) Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 5-2 at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park.

The Aviators did get on the board first when Michael Hur led off the second inning with a single and later scored on a Ted Obregon RBI infield single to give make it 1-0, where it stayed until the sixth.
Washington catcher Maxx Garrett led off with a solo home run to tie the game at one. It was followed by a Darian Sandford bunt single. Sandford stole second and was later balked home by Rucinski to give the Wild Things their first lead at 2-1.
Gus Benusa then led off the eighth inning with a home run and the score was 3-1 Washington.
Rockford got one back in the bottom of the eighth. Ray Hernandez singled with one out, advanced to second on a ground-out by Alvaro Ramirez and then scored off of a pinch-hit, RBI single by Greg Van Horn to make it a one-run game at 3-2.
The visiting Wild Things tacked on two more in the ninth, with Benusa and Garrett picking up the RBIs to make it a three-run game. Rockford was unable to get a base runner in the ninth and the game ended with Washington on top, 5-2.
