Rockford Police arrest 1 for burglary, battery to officer

Rockford Police responded to the 2400 block of Wyoming Drive just before 7:00 a.m. on Monday for reports of a burglary in progress.

A neighbor told police a man forced a door open to gain entry to a nearby home. Upon police arrival, an officer saw the suspect run away from the home in question. He was taken into custody after a foot chase and struggle. His car was also located and police say a stolen license plate was recovered from inside.

Kenneth J. Devaul, 25, faces the following charges:

  • Aggravated battery to a police officer
  • Burglary
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Possession of burglary tools
  • Resisting/obstructing a police officer
  • Possession of stolen property

A Winnebago County Sheriff's Police Deputy assisted in the arrest.

Devaul is currently on parole in Winnebago County for burglary.
