Trial starts for one of three accused in Marie's Pizza shooting

Jury selection is underway in the trial against one of three suspects charged in a deadly shooting at a Rockford pizza place.

Michael Sago, Jr., 16 was killed.  It happened at Marie's Pizza on Charles street in Rockford.  Police say Michael Sago, Brandon Sago, Lamar Coates and Desmond Bellmon were in the process of robbing the pizza place when the shooting happened.  Investigators say off-duty Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputy, Frank Pobjecky stopped the robbery and shot Michael Sago.  The three surviving suspects, Sago, Coates and Bellmon face felony murder charges for Sago, Jr's death.

Attorneys are picking the jurors to hear the case against Lamar Coates. Opening statements are expected to be delivered Tuesday.

The cases against Bellmon and Brandon Sago are pending.
