Rockford man arrested in fatal motorcycle crash

A Rockford man faces multiple charges after a hit and run crash killed a 45-year-old man on May 15.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of 11th Street around 11:45 p.m. on May 15. Police say Scott Zwiefelhofer was going south on 11th Street when he was struck by a white GMC Envoy, which then left the scene.

Investigation led to the arrest of Ryan Banks of Rockford. He faces the following charges:

  • Failure to stop after having an accident involving injury or death
  • Driving while license is revoked
  • Failure to yield while turning left in front of oncoming traffic

The incident is still under investigation.
