The spirit of competition allows emergency responders from across the Midwest to showcase skills in Cherry Valley.
For 26 years, men and women have displayed their ability to cut into cars at the competition. It's the annual Midwest Regional Extrication Competition.
It was held this weekend at the Cherry Valley Fire Station two.
Teams from Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota competed with both hand tools and powered tools.
The winner of the competition receives a paid entrance into the national competition.
