Rockford woman struck in head with handgun


A Rockford woman suffered minor injuries after being struck in the head with a handgun overnight.

Rockford Police responded to the 1700 block of 11th Street around 2:15 a.m. The victim reported she was standing outside her apartment when an unknown vehicle drove into a nearby alley. She said two or three white males got out of the car, and ran up to her. One of the men pointed a gun at her, yelled at her, and called her names.

The victim grabbed at the gun, but the suspect pulled it away, hitting her on the forehead with gun. He and the other suspects then ran away and the vehicle drove off.

The victim said she did not know who the men were, but said her boyfriend recently had a disagreement with some people and she believed they may have been looking for him.

Rockford Police are looking for a white male in his 20s, about 5'4", 130 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing.
