A prominent figure in local radio is saying goodbye to Rockford.
J. Chapman, the general manager of Rockford's Midwest Family radio stations, which were previously under Maverick Media, recently purchased several stations in Indiana. Chapman and a group of local investors formed a new company named Woof Boom Radio, which will operate the stations.
Chapman has been in the Rockford market for eight years and says that although leaving will be difficult, the local stations are in good hands.
"I feel really good about it because the new group that's coming in is very committed to local broadcasting and they are about doing things that build the community up," he said. "That's how we've tried to run our business over the last several years so it'll be a good thing for these radio stations; it'll be a good thing for Rockford."
Woof Boom Radio will begin operations on June 1.
