Milwaukee woman sentenced in fatal Boone County crash

A 22-year-old Milwaukee woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for a fatal 2011 hit and run crash.

Amber Mazoch was sentenced May 13, 2013 for Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Death and Aggravated DUI of Drugs.

According to the Boone County State's Attorney's Office, Mazoch was going west on Business 20 near Poplar Grove Road in Belvidere around 2:30 p.m. on September 11, 2011 when she went into the oncoming lane of traffic to pass a semi, while in a no-passing zone.

Mazoch's car hit a motorcycle driven by Anthony Kush of Genoa, who died from injuries sustained in the crash. After striking Kush, Mazoch drove away, going north on Poplar Grove Road. She was stopped by a sheriff's deputy who heard citizen reports of the crash on 911 dispatch calls.

Blood and urine tests revealed cocaine, cannabis, and oxycodone in Mazoch's system.
