Sixteenth District Congressman Adam Kinzinger stopped in Rockford Friday to tour Rockford Mass Transit District's Lyford Road transfer facility.
Officials with RMTD showed Kinzinger how federal funds have impacted the region's transportation. While there, Kinzinger shared his vision for local transportation.
"My goal is to be a partner with the Rockford area in terms of their transportation needs, whether it's on rail or on roads, or whether it's in the air is important to making Rockford a vibrant community," he said.
Kinzinger also shared a new transportation bill will be brought up by Congress next year, but it will be a challenge to fund it due to the continuing decrease of revenues from gas taxes.
