Deontae Murray has been arrested by Rockford Police for his involvement in an April 21 Belvidere murder.

Murray was arrested Friday afternoon in the 900 block of 11th Street.

Belvidere Police named 21-year-old Deontae Murray and 19-year-old Marco Hernandez as suspects in the shooting death of 33-year-old Richard Herman. According to witnesses, four people got into a fight in the Shell parking lot when one pulled out a gun and shot Herman in the chest. Police say Murray and Hernandez then ran away from the scene.

Rockford Police shut down the 2800 block of 20th Street for several hours the following morning, believing Murray to be inside a home in that area. It was later determined that Murray was not in the residence.
