Walker Elementary students get peek into potential careers

Walker Elementary School hosted Career Day on Thursday, giving students a look at just some of the many career options available to them.

Over 24 local professionals visited the school and spoke to students about what it takes to get into college and find a career that's right for them. Fields like law, technology, medicine, fine arts, and community service were represented.

"To be thinking about different careers and different ways they can go about their life and which jobs they might have, and exposing them early let's them really start thinking about, 'Wow, I really want to be an officer, an electrician, or a musician or a lawyer or a doctor,'" Walker Principal Matt Lerner explained. "We want to start putting that in their mind now."
