Mock disaster at RFD helps local agencies train for emergencies

Posted:

Multiple emergency responders converge on Chicago-Rockford International Airport for crash training with the Rockford Fire Department.

The exercise simulates a response to a crash between a general aviation aircraft and a passenger aircraft.

According to FAA regulation, RFD must hold one of these training exercises every three years.

The exercises occurred between 8-11am and included 150 local volunteers acting as injured passengers along with 20 participating agencies.
