The Keeping Kids Safe Project is in Rockford this weekend for a free child safety fair.
Parents can have FBI-quality digital fingerprints and photographs taken of their children at the event, with the goal of having a pre-made file for authorities in case of emergency. The fingerprints are taken on an inkless digital scanner and the only copy goes home with parents, who can then turn the file over to authorities to help with investigation in case their child goes missing.
Along with the photos and fingerprinting, local organizations will also be on hand to provide safety information to families.
The fair is being held at Lou Bachrodt Automall until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. Lou Bachrodt is located at 7070 Cherryvale N. Blvd in Rockford.
