Afghanistan crash has Rockford connection

Posted: Updated:

A deadly plane crash at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan shares a connection with Rockford.

The plane went down, Monday, as it took off with a load of cargo, and 7 crew members.  By coincidence, according to several sources, the same National Airlines 747 jet was at RFD several days earlier this month.

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to investigate the crash.  The Taliban claimed responsibility, but NATO says there's no evidence insurgents were active in the area.  No one survived the crash.
