IDOT offering motorcycle training courses in Rockford and Freeport

The Illinois Department of Transportation will offer free motorcycle training courses in Rockford and Freeport.

The classes are offered by the Northern Illinois University Motorcycle Safety Project. They're open to Illinois residents 16 and older with a valid automobile or motorcycle driver's license or permit. The program includes 20 hours of instruction, with seven of those hours in the classroom and 13 hours of hands-on instruction.

Spots in the Basic Riding Course are open at the following locations:

  • Rock Valley College - 4145 Samuelson Road, Rockford
  • Jefferson High School - 4145 Samuelson Road, Rockford
  • Highland Community College - 2998 West Pearl City, Freeport
