UPDATED: 1 suspect in custody in Rockford home invasion

UPDATE:
Rockford Police have released more information about Monday morning's home invasion.

Police say when they pulled over the suspect vehicle, a dark-colored SUV, a quantity of green plant material, believed to be cannabis, and a firearm were recovered. Property from the 7th Street home invasion was also recovered.

Marcell D. Norris, 25, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Home Invasion
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Violation of the Cannabis Control Act, possession with intent to deliver cannabis
  • Resisting Arrest

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Rockford Police are not officially releasing a photograph of Norris.

PREVIOUSLY:
One of three suspects in a Monday morning home invasion is in custody.

Rockford Police responded to the 2300 block of Sixth Street just before 10:00 a.m. on April 29 in regard to reports of a suspicious vehicle and people looking into the windows of houses.

Officers spotted the vehicle in question and stopped it in the 1700 block of Kishwaukee. The three occupants of the vehicle ran away, one was taken into custody after a short chase, but the other two got away.

Investigation showed the suspects committed a home invasion in the 2300 block of Seventh Street.

The suspect taken into custody is currently being questioned by police.
