A corporation, a local church, and community partner were honored by the Rockford Rescue Mission during the Expressions of Hope Annual Banquet Thursday.
Along with live music and a testimony from a graduate, the 2013 Compassionate Generosity Award recipients were also announced.
Subway, JPW, Inc. received the Compassionate Generosity Corporate Partner Award for Jeff and Phoebe Wilhelm's support of the Rockford Rescue Mission over the last twenty years.
The Compassionate Generosity Church Partner Award was given to Lincoln Wood Baptist Church, one of the mission's oldest supporters. Many church staff members, board members, and elders have helped the mission launch programs for women and children.
Saint Anthony College of Nursing received the Compassionate Generosity Community Partner Award for the volunteer work of its students. Students have provided health care services and many have later joined as formal volunteers.
"We are blessed to be able to acknowledge and thank those individuals who have given so generously of their time, talents and resources to the efforts of the Rockford Rescue Mission," said Sherry Pitney, Executive Director. "The needs in our community are great but with the wonderful support of partners, such as these, we can offer food, clothing, shelter and long-term life-recovery programs for those who are homeless, hungry and hurting."
The event was held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center.
