Students show their peers their backgrounds

Local elementary students take a trip around the globe, without leaving their school's gym.

Laos, Austria and Mexico are just a few of the countries, Kishwaukee students got to experience during their International Celebration.  Through songs, dance and even fashion, the traditions and cultures came alive.  The countries represent the diverse ethnicities of Kishwaukee students.

Kishwaukee Elementary Music Teacher, Brad Koloch says the students were excited for this day to finally be here.

"As they were glancing at each other, looking at the different clothes, you could just see the look on their face ‘Wow! That's what you guys dress like? That's what you wear at your country?' So it was really something, really special."

The students started learning the songs and dance routines for the celebration after winter break.
