Deal to end air traffic controller furloughs passes Senate

Air travel across the country could return to normal soon after a furlough deal in the Senate.

Lawmakers passed a bill to end air traffic controller forced days off. The plan gives the Federal Aviation Administration the power to transfer roughly a quarter of a billion dollars from some accounts into others to prevent reduced staffing. The move could also save certain control towers scheduled to close. The House could vote tomorrow.
