UPDATED: Victims identified in Manchester, Illinois shooting

Police say there was a dispute between Smith and at least one of the victims, but what the dispute was about is unknown.


MANCHESTER (WREX) — The five people found shot to death inside a Manchester, Illinois on Wednesday have been identified by authorities.

One-year-old Brantley Ralston, five-year-old Nolan Ralston, and their parents 29-year-old James Roy Ralston and 23-year-old Brittney Luark, who was pregnant. Luark's grandmother, 67-year-old Jo Ann Sinclair, was the fifth victim. A six-year-old girl was also wounded in the shootings. She was taken to Springfield hospital.

The suspect in the shootings, 43-year-old Rick Odell Smith of rural Morgan County, later died of wounds sustained in an exchange of gunfire with police that occurred during a car chase.

This is the first multiple homicide known to Scott County, which saw its last homicide in 1993.
