Red Cross shelter still available for those affected by flooding

The American Red Cross is offering a shelter for any area residents still affected by flooding.

The shelters are open to people who feel their home is unsafe or who cannot access their home due to high waters. Volunteers are currently out assessing damage, and once they are finished, they will offer cleanup kits to anyone in need. The kits will include gloves, bleach, buckets, mops, hand sanitizer, and other basic items.

The shelter is located at Hilltop Ministries, 8301 Mitchell Road in Machesney Park. Those who go to the shelter are advised to bring all medications and comfort items. The shelter is unable to accommodate pets.
