Thanks to a $69,000 donation from the PACCAR Foundation, the Rockford Rescue Mission has purchased two 15-passenger vans.

The vans will replace older models the organization has used for over 10 years. The mission uses the vehicles to take residents to medical and dental appointments, job interviews, recreational activities, GED testing, and church services.

"Most importantly, the safety and comfort of our staff, residents and volunteers who use the vans area  top priority," Executive Director Sherry Pitney said. "We feel so blessed that the PACCAR Foundation chose to assist the mission in this way, by providing the funds necessary to purchase these vehicles that are vital to our programs and services."

The donation was given to the mission on April 16.
