Rockford Police investigate two Sunday night armed robberies

Rockford Police are investigating two armed robberies that took place between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. Sunday night.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Halsted around 8:39 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery to a citizen. The victim, a 77-year-old male, was outside his house when he was approached by two suspects who produced a gun and demanded cash. The man didn't have any money and the suspects ran away. They are described as two males around 20 years old. One was wearing a dark hoodie and the other a lighter colored shirt.

Just 17 minutes later, police responded to the 3900 block of Eagle Drive for another armed robbery to a citizen. A female victim had arrived home in her car when she was approached by two men with guns who demanded her purse. She refused and tried to run away, but was caught by the suspects and hit in the head twice with a gun. Her cell phone was taken and the suspects ran away. They are described as two males wearing dark clothing. The victim sustained a minor injury.
