Shred Day enables people to protect their identities

Shredding takes on a wide variety of meanings depending on the context you're using it in.   For today's purpose, it means protecting your identity.

Businesses and consumers get the chance to avoid identity theft earlier as they shred unwanted personal, financial and confidential documents free of charge.

It's the 5th semi-annual ShredFest hosted by the Better Business Bureau of Chicago's Rockford regional office.   Folks also got the chance to recycle some of their old, used electronics.
