The NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) has announced the All-American teams for women's and men's basketball and three Rock Valley College players have achieved the honor.
Keshawnee Alley has been named to the first team for NJCAA Division III women's basketball. Alley led the Golden Eagles in scoring this season at 13.7 points per game and was also second on the team in rebounding after averaging just over eight per game. In March she was also named Player of the Year for the N4C (North Central Community College Conference) and was an all-region (NJCAA Region IV) selection.
Revonnia Howard has achieved third team All-American honors after leading RVC in rebounds per game this season at 10.6 while also averaging 10.7 points and an impressive 3.9 blocks per game. She was also a first team all-conference and an all-region selection. As a freshman last season, Howard won the NJCAA tournament MVP while leading the Golden Eagles to the NJCAA championship.
Both Alley and Howard were named to the NJCAA all-tournament team this season as they helped guide RVC to its second consecutive NJCAA championship for women's basketball.
RVC has now had seven women's basketball players named NJCAA All-Americans since the 2007-2008 season after having none prior to that season.
The RVC men's basketball team has its first NJCAA All-American since the 2001-2002 season. Brandon Schwebke was named to the second team for NJCAA Division III after helping the Golden Eagles reach the NJCAA tournament for the first time since 2001. Schwebke was the team's leading rebounder (8.6 per game) and second leading scorer (15.9 points per game) this season. He also averaged close to three three-point field goals per game while shooting 36.5% from beyond the arc. His previous honors this season include first team all-conference, first team all-region, Region IV tournament MVP, and NJCAA all-tournament team.
