UPDATED: Candidates battle it out in Rockford aldermanic races


In addition to the Mayoral Race, Rockford voters will also be asked to vote on their choice of Aldermanic candidates. The winners will be members of City Council for the next four years. They work with the Mayor as the legislative body of city government. 

There are 14 wards in Rockford. Seven are contested this election season. Winners of the contested races are in bold below:

    • Paul Frey (I)
  • Ward 2
    • Melvin Miller (D)
    • Jamie Getchius (R)
    • Elliott Kallstrom (I)
  • Ward 3
    • Thomas Mcnamara (D)
    • Douglas Mark (R)
    • Maurice West II (I)
  • Ward 6
    • Vernon Hilton (D)
    • Pamela Connell (R)
  • Ward 9
    • Jay Ware (D)
    • Peter Herdklotz (I)
    • Teena Newburg (I)
    • Beverly Giorgi (I)
  • Ward 11
    • Karen Elyea (D)
    • Jamie Saldago (I)
  • Ward 13
    • Linda McNeely (D)
    • David Licktieg (I)

The other half of the races are not contested, meaning there is only one candidate running for the seat. These wards include:

  • Ward 4 - Kevin Frost (R)
  • Ward 5 - Venita Hervey (D)
  • Ward 7 - Ann Thompson Kelly (D)
  • Ward 8 - Jeanne Oddo (D)
  • Ward 10 - Franklin Beach (R)
  • Ward 12 - John Beck (R)
  • Ward 14 - Joseph Chiarelli (R)
