The City of Dixon's Public Works Director is on paid administrative leave for allegedly using a city credit card for personal expenses.
Dixon Mayor James Burke says Shawn Ortgiesen admitted to charging over $13,000 in personal expenses, but was paying the money back. Burke said Ortgiesen has paid back about $5,000, but still owes Dixon $8,000.
Ortgiesen has served as the public works director since 2002 and makes $118,000 a year. He was placed on leave during a City investigation into how people were using things like credit cards, travel expenses, and petty cash.
The City of Dixon has given a total of 11 credit cards to different people in different departments, but this was the only discrepancy they found.
A special meeting will be held on the matter at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at City Hall.
