One out of the six Americans killed in an attack in southern Afghanistan is from nearby Chicago suburbs.
25-year-old Anne Smedinghoff, from the Chicago area was killed when the group she was traveling with, was hit by an explosive.
Smedinghoff was on a mission to donate books to students in southern Zabul province. She's the first American diplomat to die on the job since last year's Benghazi attack.
