School board members in Ogle County consider a replacement superintendent, an interim leader.
And it seems they're considering someone who already has that title in the Rockford area.
13 News spoke with Meridian School District 223 leaders Thursday before they went into closed session to discuss the subject.
Board president Bruce Larson says the purpose of their meeting is to discuss who to hire as Interim Superintendent to begin July first, and the board is already considering candidates.
Dr. Robert Willis, retiring Rockford Public School District 205 Interim Superintendent was in attendance.
Larson would not say who the list of candidates includes, or if Dr. Willis is on that list. But he did say Willis is 'high quality,' a characteristic he says they are looking for.
Larson also says the board has decided to recruit instead of taking applications to help speed up the process.
"We don't have enough time to do an exhaustive search at this point, so we're just trying to find the best possible candidate we can," says Larson.
Current Interim Superintendent Jim Brown's time with the district will end on June 30th. He took over after Superintendent Dr. Robert Morelan and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Thomas Gaudreau both resigned earlier this year.
