Rockford pilot crashes plane in Wisconsin swamp

A 29-year-old pilot from Rockford was rescued from a central Wisconsin swamp after crashing his plane.

A rowboat was used to reach Seth Pripps Monday afternoon after he called a local communications center to report the crash. Pripps said he was uninjured, but could not get out of the Cessna he was in because of the water level around him.

Pripps said he was flying from Park Falls, Wisconsin, to St. Louis, Missouri, and had landed at Wonewoc to check the plane. He said the plane then had engine trouble shortly after takeoff, which caused the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
