The latest candidates for the Rockford Police Department seem to be a strong group.
The Rockford Register Star's Jeff Kolkey reports that of the 265 people who went through the training process, about 30 are left. The department uses a strict process that includes psychological and lie detector tests to make sure potential officers have good decision-making skills.
According to Kolkey, the candidates have about three rounds left.
"The psychological assessment, the medical exam, and the background investigation, so there's still the possibility that there's more drop-off, but they are hopeful they'll have more than 20 left when it's all said and done, which would be an excellent class compared to the previous couple of hiring cycles," Kolkey said.
