Some officers with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department have new rides.
The department is receiving newer, smaller Ford Taurus models to replace the old Crown Victorias, which Ford no longer manufactures. Sheriff Richard Meyers says patrol officers had their hand in how the new cars function with the hopes of making them efficient, easy, and safe to use.
Meyers says the public should start seeing the new squad cars on the streets sometime in April.
