Despite recent candidate death, Loves Park ballot unchanged

Some Loves Park voters will still see five options for alderman on their ballots April 9, even though one of those candidates recently passed away.

Mark Rydberg died unexpectedly on March 18. He was running for Loves Park's 3rd Ward Alderman. According to Winnebago County Clerk Margie Mullins, since it's so close to the election, voters can still cast a ballot for Rydberg.

"Whatever votes he does get, if he was to win out of that five person race then what we would end up doing, or the City of Loves Park would end up doing, would be appointing somebody to fill his position," Mullins says.

Ron Adams, Robert Schlensker, Eric Stomberg, and Douglas Miller round out the candidates. You can learn more about them on 13 News at 10.
