Page Park School to reopen with new purpose

An empty Rockford Public School building now has a new use.

The Rockford School Board voted to allow the Illinois Regional Office of Education to use Page Park School to house two consolidated alternative education programs.

"We have two alternative programs, one housed at Court Street Methodist Church and one at Bethany. We're going to lose the site at Bethany and I was thinking that we could maximize our human resources better if we could put the two programs at one location," Assistant Regional Superintendent Linda Oshita said.

The initial lease is for five years at $72,500 each year with renewals every two years after that.
